Wrecking-off of the slip form began Nov 29 and will continue for about a week-weather permitting.

The building is complete. The last pre-cast panel was installed Nov. 27 so the entire building envelope is complete and bin bottom and equipment installation can begin.

Bin Cluster

This is an interesting photo looking up from ground-level at the bottom of the bin wall beams. The small bins center-left are the loadout bins. All others are either ingredient or pellet mash bins. The bin deck (top) was poured Friday, Nov 9. Bin hoppers are on site and will be installed once lower floors are in place.

Precast day One

By the end of the first day of precast wall installation, 13 panels had been installed. It is an amazing process that can be viewed on the site webcam. Wall and roof installation should take about two to three weeks.

PreCast installation is underway

The first panel of more than 80 total is installed on the northwest corner of the tower. The first walls up will enclose the receiving tunnel, they will move to the grinding building next then the warehouse, Feed Safety research Center and finally the pelleting bay and boiler room on the west.

View from Snyder Stadium

The photo above was taken during the KSU-Tex Tech football game Sat, Oct 27. In the background, standing proud and tall, is the tower for the O. H. Kruse Feed Technology Innovation Center.

Day 8- The tower is done.

This is day eight of the slip. Tower height is 142′ 1.5″. What a glorious day we had to finish the slip. In total, we poured about 980 cu yds of concrete. I’ll get the rebar figure later but there was a bunch. There were no major issues that had to be dealt with except getting some of older folks to climb the 340 steps to the top. What a view from the top!! We can see about 75% of the field in KSU Stadium-Anybody interested?

Half-way to the top!!

This is day-5 of the slip. Today the bin-wall beams were pinned to the walls and we began pouring the bin walls. That, of course, nearly tripled the amount of rebar and concrete that had to find its way up but everyone pitched in and we didn’t slow down much.

Tower slip is underway

The photo shows the level reached after about 48 hours of pouring. Things are moving nicely at about six inches per hour.

Race to the Start!-Slip form construction

Great progress has been made on the construction of the slip form. The actual form is completed, the work deck is nearly complete and the top deck is proceeding nicely. The form is scheduled to be complete by this Thurs so that the actual pour can begin Monday October, 8. Crane will arrive on Wed and rebar will be on site by Friday.
